MUSEUM TOUR MOBILE APP

As an artist based in Chicago, the Art Institute is probably the second place that I spend the most time in. I love visiting art gallery and museums, but the one bummer is that it is very inconvenient for visitors to read the info tag and understand the background history of the artwork. For this project, I am designing a mobile app that guides and tour the visitors in their visit of museums. It allows the visitor to engage with the artworks closer, read artwork descriptions and also provide a layout map of the museum on their phone to prevent them from getting lost.

PAIN POINT

Users are not able to engage with the artwork in art gallery because people are having trouble reading descriptions. Visitors are unable to check into the art gallery efficiently.

BACKGROUND

  • People visits the museum on regular basis. Not every visitors understands art so the detailed background information and description of the work became extremely important. Museums are usually big in size, it is also very easy for visitors to get lost in there. It would lower the chance for the visitors to come back to the museum again if their experience here was not satisfying and convenient.

  • In the process of researching, I discovered that most museums does not have a tour check-in app. Visitors find it to be very inconvenient to gain insights about artworks.

Further Information:

His first language isn’t English so he has some language barriers reading the English description of the artwork. He is seeking for efficiency in his life so he always has a frustration for spending so much time entering personal information and signing up for the art tour app. He likes to document artworks he sees for inspiration so he needs an art tour app that allows him to view the artwork closer.

RESEARCH STUDY

Usability study is the testing phase of the process. It is a method of evaluating the product’s user experience. I conducted an interview with 5 different people. Two male and Three females to test how my product reflects on the users.
